Does Intestine Morphology Still Have Secrets to Reveal? A Proposal about the “Ghost” Layer of the Bowel

In this brief Opinion paper, the term “muco-microbiotic layer” is introduced to describe innermost layer of intestinal wall. This may contribute not only overall health bowel, but also that extraintestinal organs. Its constituents, in terms soluble molecules and nanovesicles, need be studied further. Moreover, one can hypothesize existence an analogous other organs, such as airways or some parts genital tracts. Further studies on it are needed.
